These search engines also capture data (as much as they can) regarding what you search for, when, what computer you use, your IP address at that time, and store it.

If you use Duckduckgo.com they do not store anything. Ever. Since I've been using is religiously for the last six months, garbage, ads, and even spam have gone significantly down. Not the cure for everything, but they do respect your privacy by not recording/storing anything.
