I noticed LKT/CA's idea of letting police officers use the police station as their address; I do that too. Then I wondered what the CA handbook had to say about that, just out of curiosity. I read § 8206 on page 27. It doesn't mention any requirement to record the address in the journal, which was a bit surprising. I was really astonished when I read that it only requires the signers signature; there is no requirement to print the signer's name legibly.

I'm used to such laxity in my state (yesterday, a signing service wanted me to explain the layout of my commission, and I couldn't figure out the name of three of the four officials who signed it, because their names were only signed, not printed). Same deal with the notary who notarized the deed for my house. But I wasn't expecting such laxity from CA.
