I don't generally tell them everything on a recording, especially if they did not include their name on the phone message. I might have the wrong number. They might have a nosy neighbor or relative who answers their phone. When I am sure it is their recording or I have reached them, I say, "I am the notary public who will be helping you with your papers at your appointment at 2 o'clock tomorrow at your home. Is that time still good for you?" Then they have to answer me and also double check the time just in case I have the wrong information. It also serves as a reminder of the time and place without me saying something rude such as "don't forget". I also verify that their phone has captured my phone number, which is a hint that they can/should call me back if anything changes such as after a call from their loan officer. (I have never heard of the use of the word "consummation" in legal or signing matters.) |
