I agree with you. On a rare occasion I've responded to a text that was only addressed to me, but the blast texts virtually never meet my fees, so they get ignored (and deleted).
I made a decision a while back that has made the blast-text approach a non-issue for me. If a company changed their business model to using broadcast texts (which in my experience has always been accompanied by a fee reduction), that meant that we were no longer a match. I mentally file it away as if it were a signing in the next state over. (Might as well be.) If it was never meant for me, then I haven't lost anything. That decision has done wonders for my stress level!
I just try to use those text as a reminder to make good use of the time I would have been spending on that appointment.
