...and I think it's just a matter of time before it's available everywhere. I should add, however, that this is about as much as I know on the subject. When it first went into effect way back when, I did a little research and found out that there are three stages of electronic recording. My memory isn't clear on this but I believe the first step was just using a digitized copy of some sort, allowing for same-day funding and disbursement, which is what has been going on here for a long while (and has long been expanding to counties across the country).
I suspect the final stage will involve recording a fully electronic document, e-signed and e-notarized without the need for a printed copy at all. It's the middle part that's fuzzy to me - and probably the most difficult to accomplish. |
