It's up to the programmer on how to calculate the star rating. Two ways to give more emphasis to more recent data are to use a rolling window moving average of the last 24 months of data only, with data older than 24 months being ignored in the calculation.
Or, show two columns of star ratings: one for the last 24 months, and one for the last 6 or 12 months. With two columns, you could see at a glance if the trend is rising, falling or flat. Color coding could also be added to highlight trends in red, green or yellow.
It would be useful to move the "out of business" listings to the bottom of the file. |
