It was revealed today (several media outlets have a copy of the text message in question) that the "secret society" text messages consisted of a single message between two people who were romantically involved and was likely a joke. There is no secret society and no FBI plot for a coup - it's a conspiracy theory being fed by congressmen who should know better and are damaging their own credibility in the process. That's two GOP conspiracy theories that have fallen apart in two days - the other is the Nunes memo.
I saw a report that yesterday, Fox & Friends mentioned "secret society" about 20 times in reporting the alleged story. Today? Not a peep. No correction, no explanation, just radio silence.
