Seems like it was just an unrealistic business model - the theaters weren't buying into it. Then you get a big chain like AMC starting their own program and refusing to provide discount tickets to MoviePass, and you can stick a fork in them because they're done...
It's been a while since I've gone to a movie theater - I get most of the movies I want to see off cable or Netflix - but as I recall it was never all that hard to see three movies in one day. You just had to know which screening room they were playing in and move fast so the ushers didn't notice you. Once you got past the ticket-taker, you were pretty much home-free... |
