Cheryl, you mentioned going to the Ophthalmologist for your exam. This type of doctor is an MD. With that in mind, your medical insurance will pay for the exam.
I go to the ophthalmologist because a few years ago, I had an incident of eye floaters and flashes. The scare was that it could've been retina detachment. I was blessed. The flashes disappeared, the floaters remain (but not as bad). But, the main reason I go to the ophthalmologist is that my dad had glaucoma and lost an eye to it and we have to keep tabs that I don't develop the disease.
Then, I have the doctor give me a full prescription -- including PD. Then, I access Zenni Optical and order my glasses and wait for them to arrive in the mail in a matter of days! Great prices big selection.
