The Ducks were founded as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and got their name from a Hollywood movie starring Emilio Estevez. Agree that Preds is a clumsy nickname but they took care of the Blackhawks and the Blues who were favored teams. Tired of Sidney Crosby and the Penguins, so there is that too.
