| This has actually been a real thing in Manhattan, although it was probably only about 10 or 15 years ago when they gave it a name. Although I lived in the NYC area for most of my life, I was never lucky enough to be in Manhattan on the day this happened. You'll not see this in other cities - it's a combination of where Manhattan is, its grid street layout, its tall buildings, and where the sun will be at that time. I think it only lasts a moment or so, but if the weather is clear it can be quite spectacular. |
