We're trying to avoid the 'unhealthy' foods and beverages that are typical of Christmas dinners.

Just two of us this year. We're staying put. After the fires in Ojai, our brother and sister are not leaving their homes due to looters, car thieves, etc.
So many people displaced, still at the high school camped out on Army cots. There will be a huge dinner served for those who have nowhere to go. Bro and Sis are attending the celebration and helping to serve! They weren't burned out, but are helping others get into temporary homes while their homes are being rebuilt. A good many people are taking their neighbors into their homes. There isn't a lot of inventory of rentals in Ojai for all the people who have been displaced by the fires.
My prayers go out to all those who are struggling right now, lot of jobs lost when two health resorts shut down, one while damage is assessed and a complete remodel. Businesses have been closed altogether. A very grim shopping season for Ojai retailers who really count on this season to bank seasonal profits from local and out of town shoppers.
We all need to count our blessings this holiday season! The reason for the season...and be grateful for whatever you have, mostly good health and a roof over our heads, family and friends. |
