I've seen the whole non-dairy, non-meat thing get political in another forum so not out to change the world, just my own eating habits. One item I dumped but has slowly crept back is cheese. It's easy to see why...it's addictive. So says Dr Neal Barnard. There is a chemical in it that the dairy industry knows is addictive much like the tobacco industry knows nicotine is addictive. So serve up some more cheeseburgers, pizza, casseroles, salad topping, you name it. We love it!
Percentages of Calories from Fat:
Lean Beef 29% Skinless chicken breast 23% Sea Trout 32% White tuna 16% Broccoli 8% Beans 4% Rice 1 - 5% Sweet Potato 1% Cheese 70%
We know what sodium does to us. How much sodium is in cheese? For comparison:
Potato chips 330 mcg Cheddar cheese 2 oz 350 mcg Valveeta 800 mcg
For more, go about 10 minutes in (or better, try to watch the entire lecture) to Dr Barnard's presentation. He does an excellent job.
