Become a New Mexico Notary
Includes NM notary application, complete $10k surety bond and a voucher redeemable for a $5,000 E&O insurance policy
This combo package contains items essential to becoming a notary public in the state of New Mexico: a New Mexico notary application and a completed $10,000 surety bond. Also included is a voucher redeemable for a $5,000 E&O policy. The bond protects the public from your actions (negligence, etc.), while the E&O policy, once issued, helps protect you from financial harm arising out of notarial errors and omissions.
Once you have received your notary commission, you must follow the instructions on the voucher to redeem it for your insurance policy. This will allow us to issue your policy with the correct coverage dates.
You WILL NOT have insurance coverage until you redeem your voucher!
Choose a Coverage Level and Policy Term
My Commission Term or 4 Years
To purchase New Mexico notary public insurance, locate the coverage amount you would like to purchase in the table above (each row represents a different liability limit), along with the number of years of coverage (the columns). Click the circle beside the premium that is displayed and then select a Quantity of 1 in the box below. New Mexico license number 100002429.
The premiums in the gold boxes are for policies with terms shorter than your notary commission.
The premiums in the blue boxes are for policies with terms that match your notary commission. If you are at the beginning of your notary commission, we recommend purchasing a full-term policy so that you will never be without coverage during your commission.
Notary Errors and Omissions Insurance Policy covering the term of your current commission. This A-rated policy is written with Western Surety Company (CNA Surety) and is best purchased at the beginning of your commission term. Please select your coverage amount. If you are mid-term, please call us in order to pro-rate the premium.
This Notary Errors and Omissions Insurance Policy offers vital protection from lawsuits for your current commission term.
Why would I want this policy?
The New Mexico Notary Public Errors and Omissions Policy is a form of liability insurance that protects you, acting as a duly commissioned and sworn New Mexico Notary Public, during the policy period and subject to the policy limits, from claims or suits that are the result of your negligent acts, errors or omissions. Unlike a notary bond, which only protects the public, this policy will pay for investigation, defense and settlement of committed or alleged acts by the insured subject to the policy's liability limit. Once that limit has been paid by the insurer, the policy stops providing coverage and you are personally responsible for any additional legal fees or damages.
What if I cancel or want to upgrade?
Most policies we carry have been filed with state insurance departments as having "fully-earned" premiums.
This means that the premium is non-refundable
. However, if a higher coverage amount is available during the term of your policy and you would like to upgrade to it, you may do so. Just give us a call so that we may calculate the pro-rated upgrade cost for you.
This is NOT the New Mexico notary bond you need to obtain your commission
A notary bond in the amount of $10,000.00 is required in New Mexico to become a New Mexico notary public. The bond must be purchased separately. Because the bond only protects the public and because any money paid by the surety on your behalf can be recovered from you, we
you purchase notary E&O coverage in an amount
equal to the bond amount of $10,000.00. We also recommend purchasing coverage for the entire term of your commission so that you don't forget to renew, which could leave you unprotected should a mistake be made. New Mexico notaries public are commissioned for a term of 4 years.
