E-signing
Ok I got my new laptop about 2 weeks ago and get that first call last night for an e-signing. iPhone all ready to go to be tethered to the laptop. Get to the borrower's home. No cell service in that area. Lucky enough I was able to use his wi-fi. I know companies frown on you using their wi-fi but what else are you to do if there is no cell service in that area.

I don't know how it works with a cell phone. I have a verizon wireless card for $60/mo. It paid for itself and then some until recently. Not so much these days.

Every blue moon, this happens to me; therefore, I generally
will make preparations in advance for those slow connection times.

I don't get many calls for e-signings; but on the few I've done in the last year or two for my better-paying clients, I have hooked up to the borrower's internet service. If I can do it wirelessly - great! If not, I keep a loooong internet cable in my laptop bag and I can hook up that way. I do not have a data plan on my phone and I turned in my aircard in 2008 - so if a company wants me to do the e-closing, then I am hooking up to the borrower's internet.

If I may ask, how long is your internet cable? Isn't there a distance limitation for it to be a good transmission? If viable, that sounds like a good idea. Better a one-time investment than a continuing monthly charge!

I sometimes use a cable that is approximately
25 feet at my office without any problems.
