Reason: Subject Request - Special Exception
This message was posted by FlaNotary2 and contained an assertion that the American Society of Notaries, Notary Public Underwriters, Troy Fain Insurance, and Budget Notary Services are all owned by the same group of people.
Kathleen Butler, Executive Director of the American Society of Notaries, requested that we remove the post because it "contains a blatantly untrue statement about American Society of Notaries." We have removed the post by exception as a courtesy to ASN. While subsequent messages in this thread reveal a strong working relationship between the above entities, they do not purport shared ownership.

Re: Interesting tidbit for Florida notaries
It is all in how they market each company. There is the Ford Escort, the Chevy Camero and the Cadillac. They all get the same thing, but value perceived is the name of the game. Slicker packaging.

Re: Interesting tidbit for Florida notaries
ASN is and always has been a non profit organization that is not owned by anyone. There are no owners, no shareholders, and their Board of Directors is non-compensated. NPU, Troy Fain and Budget have a strong working relationship with ASN, they market their memberships and products as do other bonding agencies and notary supply companies.
I have had a very good working relationship with ASN. Robert, please back up your statement that they are "owned" by the same group of people.
ASN does rent space in NPU's building, so they do have the same office building address - they were offered the office space there in 2008.
Yes, they do have officers that are with NPU and Budget and Troy Fain. Jack Dieshelhorst who is an officer (and he is a co-owner along with Debra Taylor of NPU) became an officer on ASN's board in 2008 and Tim Elliot the other officer who is also affiliated with one or two of the other companies only became an officer in 2009.
Please do some research before making such statements.

I should have phrased it differently
I know that the ASN is non profit and I certainly didn't mean to infer that they engage in any funny business. These binding agents obviously are affiliated, as they have very similar packages and websites. This is confirmed by the fact that they all have the same circle of corporate officers.

Re: I should have phrased it differently
There are only two officers on ASN's board that are connected to the others. Jack Dieselhorst and Timothy Elliot - both only on the board in recent years. Jack Dieselhorst since 2008 when he allowed ASN to rent office space from him when they needed to find other accomodations due to safety reasons. Timothy Elliot about a year later. All ASN's board of directors are uncompensated.
The ASN have a working relationship with the companies you mentioned as they do with other bonding companies and notary supply companies.
Your inital post stated that they were all owned by the same group of people and all money goes to the same place. Totally untrue.
