N3 Notary

Just got a call to print 12 pgs. and deliver them to an insurance company and then I would fill out a report. The pay was $20. Turned it down. Anyone else ever involved with this type of work?

Yes, this is normal for N3. Very small job to go with the very small pay....

My courier fee starts at $50.00. That doesn't include printing.

They just called me for the same job. Woke me up from a nap, used my air time going through the job description, and offered $20.00!!

Give them the number for either a local courier service, or FedEx, and tell them to call that service and quote the fee to them.

Sounds like a subpoena!!...

What's with this "courier" mentality all of a sudden?

Could have been a simple records request, etc.

I was called a few months ago for a similar type job but one page and one notarization, about 2 minutes from home for $20. I took the job for $35 and found that fair.

Received call to do I-9 form in a community over 15 miles ONE way and thought the $20.00 standard fee was a serious offer. When I said that my fee would be XX for that distance, she said thanks anyway and hung up before I could get "your welcome" out of my mouth. WOW!

Re: I didn't see anything in the OP about notarizations

No notarizations involved. Just printing and dropping off the paperwork and filling out a report with the employee's name who the paperwork is left with.

I'm w/ Doris - I don't leave the house for less than $50.

FedEx or a courier would chrg at least that plus a wait fee, plus a svce fee (for getting pprwrk filled out), plus another trip fee to drop it off, plus another svce fee for filling out the report: probably well over $100. Ppl - we ARE in business to make a FAIR living!!!

The one exception I could even think of making for $35 is if it were in my immediate development. I'd walk no more tha 5-7 min just for the fresh air & exercise & to say 'hi' to the neighbors. Starting up my buggy - $50! It takes more to start ur car than just to go an extra block or 2. When do light bulbs burn out - when u flick on the switch. When does ur car usually break down - the biggest power surge comes when u turn FIRST it on. In my lifetime. I can count on one hand the times when a lightbulb burned out while already on. Imagine turning off ur car everytime u came to a red light:L not only would u burn more gas , u'd wear ur engine out so fast! Just starting ur car IS a big deal!

That's why they call us! Already a bargain @ $50 - just looking for a patsy - shameful! VALUE yourselves ppl!!!!
