Remember it is "Notary Public" not "Notario Publico"

The cracking down on the use of those advertising as Notario Publico in the US may be old news to some of you, but it's fairly new news to me. I have a search filter set up in my Google mail that searches for the phrase notary public and notary and this is the second article in as many days that I have read of individuals being arrested for using this phrase. The first individual was based in Tennessee.

When we go to Detroit's Mexican Town it's painted the old-fashioned way on the side of a brick building, but I have no idea if it's front for immigration.

This is explicitly illegal in California... and yet I often see Spanish speaking notaries advertising themselves this way. I always point out what they are doing is illegal, and they all claim they didn't know.

I don't buy that... it's covered in classes, the handbook and on the exam.
