Some Maryland notaries are advertising they do weddings too.
As far as I know, we can't perform wedding ceremonies. Is the notary signing business drying up & causing this form of desperation or did I miss a memo?

Check out: Rose Ministries. For a few bucks they will ordain you. Then apply for a Authority to Solemnize Marriages permit from the State of MD. Here in OH it cost $10. It's handy to have.

Well there are a lot of notary pastors from Maryland on here
Because in Maryland, only an official of a religious order, deputy clerk of the court or judge can act as a wedding officiant.

I think that only those notaries who CAN solemnize
marriage *AS NOTARIES* should indicate that they "do weddings" in their NR profiles.
Others should not indicate that they do weddings because they are doing so as religious officials, not as notaries. This forum is for notaries, not ministers.
JMHO (and I know people will have a cow over it)

No Notaries in Maryland can perform weddings. Look at the handbook

I don't even like to go to weddings let alone perform them. Never seen a MD Notary with a wedding advertisment.

I am in Ohio and do weddings. However, I am a village mayor as well as a notary!
