This is funny...

Got a request for my fees for a signing in my area. I responded by saying (why did I do this?) $125 for professional services and $75 for sign and observe. The reply was, " sorry we can't justify your fees."
This was from a 4 1/2 star SS on this site.

Maybe they read your response as a total of $200 instead of $125 or $75. Perhaps even I have it wrong and you meant $200?

LOL - They want LESS than a sign & observe notary?? In CA, without any travel fee, that is less than 8 notarized signatures.

How does a TC justify the fee that the SS is charging? I doubt they would if they knew what the SS was actually looking for to complete their jobs.

I'm with Tonya - I bet they thought you wanted

$200 to do the signing (which you probably did...hehe) - not $125 OR $75..

Okay...The truth is they offered $75.00 I countered $125.00.........email below

>>>>>>>Good afternoon!

We have a REO cash purchase taking place on Tuesday, 6/14/2011, at 11am in San Francisco, CA. This is a small package of 15-20 pages with approx 8-9 signatures. Our fee on this is $75. <<<<<<

There are two buyers, downtown S.F. (parking $8.00/20 mins) plus $6.00 bridge toll. My counter was for NSA services. If they just wanted me to walk in/stamp and walk out, I would have done it for $75.00 plus parking and toll fees. That's what I meant, not $200.00

You know the deal, James. In this economic climate they

will get someone to cover it for $75. Fees are trending lower these days. Not saying that's good, but it is a fact. Frown

...and they think that just because the pkg is 15 pages, that the fee should be commensurate - instead of the fee being based on time and travel. If I'm going across town, my fee *could* be less than if I'm going to another county.

Yep, sure do AND I hope they did, their message to me? was

">>>>We can not justify that fee for such a small package. Thank you for your time!"<<<<

Oh well, I just lost out of $27.50 which would have been my profit for two hours work.

LOL -- What is the name of the SS so that when they call with a package of 180+ pages we can tell them that based upon $75 for 20 or so pages that we CAN justify a charge of $675+ (using their own math of course).

Also, I'm just curious what the name is so that I can add them to the long list of SS companies looking for garage sale priced NSAs. Eight to nine signatures to be notarized alone in CA is $80-90, if I'm not mistaken. Plus the printing, travel, toll charges, parking fees, your time, knowledge, & expenses all for $125 seems more than reasonable to me. <just saying> Wink

The SC ratings don't seem to match, hummm?

Maybe you should report this on SC so that others can see it.

The ratings seem not to be in sync with this experience, "great pay" isn't the case.

Re: The SC ratings don't seem to match, hummm?

I didn't take the assignment, they did nothing wrong. If they want to offer $75 that's their business. If someone accepts it and think that's great, that's their business also. I understand some people are paid more and I bet it has to do with how many notaries are in the area.

On another note, I recently did a signing for a first time TC, I charged way more, they said no problem. Then I find out they charged the borrower of $600.00. Compared to what I got, they were the low-ballers, by definition. IMO See what I mean? It's all relative.
