"The Wrong Help Can Hurt" Initiative...
First, see: http://www.alhambrasource.org/news/ask-immigration-lawyer-am-i-being-exploited
And then the official site: http://www.uscis.gov/avoidscams
Then, and press release today from the NNA:

I dunno... I just got a good giggle out of that. Seems really ironic.

Thanks, Marian. The part that gets me, of course, is this
from the press release: "the National Notary Association, the LEADER in best practices, training, and advocacy for the nation’s 4.8 million Notaries, is offering ITS EXPERT INFORMATION AND ANALYSIS to members of the media who wish to explore the issue.".....yes, offering it's expert information....LOL I do think it's important to clarify the difference in Notary powers in this country. I wonder how many of these same folks took the XYZ course for certification/bgc? So much hypocracy--so little time. LOL

LOL!! Yeah, it's kinda like nails on a blackboard, isn't it?! (For those of us old enough to remember those.. ) Talk about blatant self-promotion...
Also, I found it a bit curious that they capitalized "Notary" everywhere but didn't capitalize "notario" anywhere. The subconscious implication is exactly opposite of the whole point of the USCIS notice. If anything, it should be the other way around. To me, the most obvious disconnect was here: "“Anyone in this country posing or claiming to have the powers of a notario publico is exploiting and preying on those who do not understand the difference between a Notary and a notario.” This reminds me of someone saying "yes" while their body language is saying "no"!
Seems to imply that the author of that promo piece doesn't really get it himself.
