Clerk-recorder hits electronic milestone Share
Published: Saturday, Jun. 25, 2011 - 12:00 am | Page 6B The Sacramento County Clerk/Recorder Office recently recorded a milestone – confirming its first electronically recorded public document from Stewart Title of Sacramento.
The office said electronic processing will help expedite recording for title companies, which have long sent paper documents by mail or courier.
"Authorized submitters such as title companies need only push a button to receive electronic confirmation to be able to hand over original documents to their client more efficiently," said Craig Kramer, Sacramento County's clerk-recorder.
Sacramento County records approximately 425,000 documents annually.
Companies wishing to become authorized submitters are encouraged to contact Louise Martinez, the county's chief deputy clerk/recorder, at (916) 874-7851 or via email at [e-mail address].

Wonder how they handle ensuring the lender's
first lien position...I'm sure the recorder's not going to take the time to to a bringdown for the gap period...

Most counties in my area are online and the bringdown can be done right from your computer. Of course there are some windows of time that possibly could cross and not reflect the actual recording time. Looks like it's the way a lot of them are going.

I believe this has been done for quite a long time in Orange County, CA. When I lived in that area, over 5 years ago, the title companies recordings were handled electronically.

This sounds good! Anyone contracting directly with Stewart for e-signings?
