iPhone App

I just downloaded the iPhone app "Square" which permits me to accept credit cards. The charge is 2.75% of the bill. Those of you that take cedit cards do you increase your charge to cover the credit card processing charge?

I believe paypal is less expensive and unless you are doing alot of general notary work, why would you need to accept credit cards?

I accept credit cards alot. On a ten dollar notarization, you are talking a $0.03 fee. Even for larger charges it is worth it to receive your money instantly, and it costs the same as Paypal. I don't charge extra for credit card fees.

It's late and my math skills went to bed about an hour ago, but isn't it $.28 instead of $.03 (rounding up the 1/2 cent)?

Great info, Robert. I have been researching this for

awhile, but could not decide.

I want to clarify that there is no monthly fee for SquareUp.com. Is that accurate?

I don't use SquareUp... I use Intuit

which is, IMO, a little bit more of an established/reputable company. There are no monthly fees. Only the percentage (which I think is 2.5% if the card is swiped using the attachable card reader, or 3% if the card info is manually entered).

Ah ha! Thank you!

I called and left a message with intuit twice to ask questions about that very thing. No response.

I also just ordered this. I did it for my Chemistry tutoring biz more than the notary work.

Most of my general notary work is cash payment.

In today's "swipe it" world this may give you an edge.

Let us know how it works for you.

When last I took credit cards, it was very clearly spelled out in the merchant agreement that I could not charge more for cc's
