First incoming call I ever got with my smartphone
I had no idea how to answer it - was punching the business out of the green button (what?? swipe you say? what swipe??!!) - went running to my boss's wife yelling "Eileen!! Eileen!! My phone is ringing!! I can't answer it!!!" I don't know what to do!!!"
Good laugh at me had by all

Re: First incoming call I ever got with my smartphone
If am always running up to the store near me pumping them for info on what to do, how to do, etc. For a while I couldn't punch a number when getting the automatic voice mails: hit 1 for x, 2 for y, etc. I would get the number pad in place, but nothing would work. Went to the store, they said I was doing it correctly, but I couldn't replicate this in the store. Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. I was totally stymied.
Then, one day I noticed that it was working through part of the call, but quit when my hand shadowed the number pad. Called that number back, using my fingers differently so as not to overshadow the keypad - that was the fix. Drove me nuts for a week almost - lost calls cause I couldn't respond to this correctly.

What until you print Docs for the first time from your phone
or just use your voice without typing to send email, make call or text. Fun times a coming.

I've had my phone for 16 months now
I *just* learned yesterday I have voice to text capability...
I know it's there - can't use it but I know it's there.

Re: I
Sure you can - just press the little microphone and start talking. You will want to proofread until you and it synchronize as there will be some strange, odd, funny, dirty messages coming through otherwise. Lots of fun....haha.
I love it. My phone and I are in synch - seldom do I get bad messages anymore, except when there is too much backkground noise. It is not that difficult.

Haha. I haven't had great experience with using the mic for
talk to text or email. Those would be some really strange messages! ;-) LOL

It is programmed to recognize your voice inflections, tone a
diction. Took my phone a while to recognize, "yo, whaup?" LOL

Re: What until you print Docs for the first time from your phone
Reminds me of when I got my Samsung S3. The sales guy started trying to tell me how to use the voice feature. I stopped him and told him that first I needed to know how to make and answer a call! Fortunately, I got that part down. Then it took me 2 weeks to figure out how to put it on "night" mode (which was easy with my Blackberry) so it wasn't waking me up all night pinging every time I got an email, but still would allow incoming calls, in case an easterner was calling me early with potential work. What was a couple of punches on the BB, is now about 15 taps - activating at night and deactivating in the am. But at least it works!
Such fun! I know there are still tons of things I could be doing with this phone that I haven't figured out yet, but I'm getting there, little by little.

You will love the S3, I think...but, check the battery
feedback from users. One of the Galaxies had a battery that drained quickly. Of course, a Mophie or an extra battery would fix that.
I have the Note II and the battery on it is great.
I watched four people charge their IPhones and Androids on a "Mophie" the other night post fb game when batteries had hit the panic zone. I am giving those for Christmas this year; it is also on my list for Santa.

I have the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim
Every time I use my apps my battery drains very quickly - for example, today, used my memo app to job a quick shopping list on my way to the store so I wouldn't forget when I got in the store (which I tend to do - ALL the time - and yes I pulled over.. ) = battery was dead when I got home - phone on for about 3 hours..
I saw some reviews about the battery problem - not sure I want to pay $400 for a phone.

if you're thinking about changing to the S3...remember to
buy lots and lots of chargers...leave them everywhere in the house that has an outlet, because I guarantee you, you will be looking for a charger every couple of hours or so.
I have one, since March, and it is a battery drainer. No matter how many apps I have, or am using, it drains. I look at it, it drains (:\), I leave it on my desk for a minute and it drains.
Oh, and don't get me started about other crap I have had to deal with, like frozen screens.
This is the ONLY time I regretted buying this phone. Of course, when I got it, the S4 came out what less than a month later! Figures!
But, I may have gotten a rotten one, might not be the same for you Linda.

Wonder if the battery drain is the price paid for a
4.8" screen
I keep looking at my phone going "no issues but that battery thing, which is slight" - I might just stick with it.

I'm pretty sure its the app usage..if you check the Data app
on the phone, it tells you how much data is being used per app. Its a pain but I love my phone. I too was thinking of changing phones but not to the S4 but the Samsung Galaxy....I'm still debating on it and will probably wait till next March. By then I'm sure there'll be about 5 new phones out...lol.

Re: Wonder if the battery drain is the price paid for a
The Note has the largest screen yet, but the battery is very large. No actual short-life problems with the battery.
When I have bat drain, it is usually because I have on the WIFI, GPS, plus the screen lighted up like a torch. Also, Accuweather app is a problem. I removed it.
The other thing that drained it recently was when I was in a crowd, the towers were overloaded, and to send a text message. It checked constantly for a signal. I finally turned it off.

Just got Galaxy S3 4 days ago, $19.99 w/new contract
Verizon - I got it at Costco, but Verizon's direct price was the same. Of course, only 4 days but no battery issues. I don't do things like stream music or video, Facebook or games - strictly communications, so that probably makes a huge difference.
Left Sprint (don't let the door kick you in the ...), now have WAY better cell coverage for LESS money, first time getting 4G, actually have service inside my house again.
One thing Costco phone guy said was to pitch the old chargers and use the new ones (came with phones - Costco adds in some extra stuff, too). Husband used old charger - his phone actually put on the screen to NOT use the charger being used, that it was too slow.

I checked into going with Verizon
my monthly bill would be $100/month but a phone may be free or minimal charge...
I'm with StraightTalk - buy the phone (or take a free one and they're not all refurbs...some are new) - then my bill is $45/month unlimited talk, text and web, no contract.
I'm having a problem getting into 2-year contract mode.

Okay..since this got so far out there..might as well
update here..LOL
Went to Walmart today and checked out the S3 and S4 - wanted to eyeball it before ordering - glad I did cuz I don't like it - too big.
Guess I'll be saving my $400-$600 - will stick with my "Proclaim" and just replace the battery for $20 if I have to.
