Yes, indeed. The number of notaries commissioned in California fell over by 100 this month so far. I imagine those who were required to be notaries at their jobs and no longer have those jobs let their commissions expire, then people who just don't care to jump through all the expensive hoops of maintaining their commission in CA.
A new notary entering this industry these days is in for a rude awakening as the compliance requirements are implemented and industry demand is lower.
