NNA/SPW waste their time, ADOBE security breach
I posted the following on the NNA's facebook page, following an email I received this morning:
The NNA/SPW misguided efforts to control NSA activities in the name of consumer financial protection border on the ridiculous and absurd. How a script to be read at the signing table or tracking driving violations such as failing to use a turn signal or following another car too closely, or releasing a NSA,s consumer report to anyone including bank customers, specifically and directly protect borrowers financial information defies logical thinking.
Meanwhile, the recent Reuter's article (11/7/13) about the breach of security in Adobe user information demonstrates a REAL threat to consumer information. Lenders, title/escrow companies, and other service providers that handle consumer information all the way down the chain have an Adobe account which is necessary to create/view/print PDF-formatted loan and escrow documents. As a result, we are all exposed and could be among the 152 million entities with Adobe user accounts that were exposed. I know, because a diligent online, note-taking program that I use for other purposes compared their user data with that of the stolen Adobe user information found on "an underground website frequented by cyber criminals" and found a personal email address of mine. Do you believe I am the only one?

Did lenders and title companies alert their service providers, including NSAs, of the Adobe breach and potential threat to consumer financial information? NO. Possibly provide information to us that would help secure consumer information? NO.
The NNA and SPW need to focus on something that REALLY MATTERS instead of sitting in rooms conjuring up ridiculous schemes for activities that have no logical connection to consumers' financial privacy. I am reminded now of the movie, "Dumb and Dumber."

the ONLY goal with the SPew group is suck out money...
from TC's, SS and Lenders, $1k a head, and then the NSA...with new BGC's.
It really doesn't make any sense whatsoever, and I am still awaiting word on FB with regard to my questions.
I would like everyone here to read the "new standards" and give their input here and on all of the NSA's sites out there. Reason being is THEY ARE WATCHING, trolling all of the sites for our input.
It really bothers me that no one from XYZ has bothered to reply, in writing here or on FB or their LinkedIn site, or their site with regard to the posted concerns about these standards!
Some are illegal in some states, some are ridiculous, e.g., the script, and some border on the making the CSS an employee an employee in certain circumstances.
I have dissected their standards myself, and am just sick everytime I re-read it.
If the XYZ really wanted to assist these lenders, tc and ss with being compliant with the new CFPB, then they should've came straight out and announced the revamping of their certification program.
Instead, they caused chaos and confusion and hysteria with the new CSS title and standards that are lacking, to say the least.
And you're right, I've not received ANY notice from any service provider regarding my personal information possibly being breached by the Adobe security breach.
My .02 cents

Thanks for posting! Good to know...
Just one more bit of evidence that they're all trying to put window dressing on the problem rather than truly come up with real solutions. IMO, it's all about appearances, rather than results - at least on the part of some of the lenders and title companies - and all about maximizing an opportunity to increase revenues for XYZ.
As has been said many times, the fraud taking place out there very rarely is caused by (or even involves) a notary. I'm not saying there isn't room for improvement, but these initiatives seem to me to be like trying to kill a gnat with a shotgun...

You can actually do that, but it requires a very steady hand and REALLY small pellets...

That may be so, but why not just go with a flyswatter and avoid all that peripheral damage?
