Not a Problem Phillip Browne I Understand

A one day boycott where no one does a signing for a company on the SPW list.

Carol, while I welcome all discussions relating to the Notary Office on the NNA's boards, unfortunately, I am forced to remove this thread in its entirety. Potential antitrust issues prevent us from hosting conversations suggesting a boycott or any other organizing rally cry among competing entities ... in this case Signing Agents. Please accept my apologies for having to take this action.

It looks like we're only going to help the efforts of the

NNA in the long run. This is all very distressing.

So let me get thsi straight...

A company that says it exists for the NOTARY "collaborates" with a group of lenders and title companies to create "rules" for said notaries, creating a group for said purpose wherein individual notaries are NOT allowed to join or have a vote are going to disallow comment from notaries collaborating in order to deal with this because they are afraid of anti-trust allegations...thus essentially locking the audience they claim to serve completely out of the process, not giving them a voice.

"Potential antitrust issues prevent us from hosting conversations suggesting a boycott or any other organizing rally cry among competing entities ... in this case Signing Agents."

But apparently those same potential antitrust issues will not stop them from issuing a "rallying cry" among the competing entities who engage the signing agents they claim to represent, trying to get those entities to all agree on how the notaries must do their jobs - a potential violation of both antitrust laws and IRS regulations about controlling the activities of independent contractors.

Whose side are you on, Mr Browne? You're certainly not supporting the notaries, and since there are only two sides in this debate...

In his message, he said that the standards were voluntary, but also suggested that those companies in this cabal will not hire anyone who doesn't adhere to them. He then attempted to soften that by saying it was an individual business decision for each notary; the unspoken part was "choose wisely if you want to continue in this business." Now, if that is not a veiled threat - either get in line or get out of town - I don't know what is.

Well said, MikeC! They are trying to herd us into the barn

and with their efforts to bring other lenders, TCs and SSs on board, they will close the barn door.

Interesting that it's Linkedin Group does not have even ONE comment or thread related to this issue.
