Perhaps as a last resort...
Still doing quite a bit of reading regarding all these new developments. Been in contact w/ a bunch of attorney friends and 3 federal judges that are in the family. The conversations have been informative and detailed. I was speaking with my father who is a member of 2 different trade unions. AFL-CIO formation for notaries? Unsure...still investigating possiblities and potential ramifications if any.

Thanks for checking into it. There are many of us that
view these developments by NNA as an anti-trust issue by trying to control the industry.

Re: IMO impossible to enforce "union"
rules and fees, too many NSAs basically out of work. They'd undercut any collective effort to death.

Unions are for employees. ICs can belong to "associations". n/m

Not nesessarily. For example many independent truckers
are Teamsters, same with plumbers, electricians, painters , etc, etc.

I know several individuals who operate this way. The fact
that an IC cannot belong to a union is not a fact at all.

Re: IMO impossible to enforce "union"
I mean all of this completely in a factual and non-demeaning way:
That is a mindset I'm unwilling to accept and which promulgated this problem in the first place. The lack of organization nationwide, on our part, created a vacuum if you will. The simplest solution? Elimination of the terms signing agent, certified specialist, etc.... We don't recognize the term in Louisiana for a reason. When a notary shows up to the table, (s)he's functioning as precisely that - a notary. Who regulates the notary? Their respective SoS. Insert term [A], [B], or [C] and suddenly you've created a new segment which seems to need regulation from another entity. KISS and call a spade a spade IMO. You're a notary. No more, no less.
