Robo signings and the $65 fees
I find it hard to believe that anyone would take a signing that pays $65 at the US Embassy in downtown Chicago at 8am. I clicked the link and with in 5 mins someone accepted this assignment. With rush hour traffic and no parking on the streets until after 9am you are sure to pay $24+ for parking. I suppose you could always take the train but even that cost you around $8 for the subway round trip. Add in printing 2 copies of the loan package and time spent traveling. I assure you this was at the least a 3.5 hour commitment. Less parking fees is $16 per hr then subtracting printing fees. Granted it is more than minimum wage.
NEW REFINANCE SIGNING Signing Fee: $65.00 Signing Date/Time: 11/19/2013 8:00 am Signing Address: U.S. EMBASSY CHICAGO, IL, 60640
I had one of these companies contact me for 4 pages and offered $65. I thought I would see what these Robo sigings were all about and thought 4 pages sure I will check it out. Well let me tell you this. That 4 pages was a nightmare! Signer did not show up. When I called the signing company for assistance they wanted me to call title and keep trying the borrower until I reached them. Isn't that their job??? These ROBO signing services do not have someone sitting at a desk to assist you if you need help. That is why they use these automated services so they do not have to pay someone to call us. They send out one email to everyone to see who bites.
This 4 page signing ended up being a $25 trip fee, which they then expected to me to go back to get signed once they located the signer. So after paying parking of $10 that day I made $15 for my time, gas, printing (okay it was only 8 pages) and aggravation. I did get the full fee on the second trip (paying parking again) but trust me folks it is not worth it even for 4 pages. Following that appointment I had Seller docs closing for another company which was about 30 pages for $100, printing only one set. No aggravation and a live person when I needed them! Do not take these low ball fees! The fee collected on the HUD for this was $175 when I went out for the first trip. Not sure if they collected more for the trip fee paid to me.
