Talk about background checks - did you know

that Doctors don't have to have a background check to get a license? Many have felony convictions on their record and yet they are able to be licensed. I am doing research because of what I see as a problem with doctors in my area. Some doctors are not even licensed. I am horrified at what I am learning. Even if your doctor is licensed, he could have been convicted of any kind of felony. Scarey stuff.

Hmmmm, their background is verified

Maybe not complete background check to the level we have, but it is checked. I used to work with a physician verification company. Before doctors could be employed at hospitals, as in being able to practice at specific locations--and on an annual basis--information such as past employment, education, and other items were verified. BIG BUSINESS, and this was in the mid 90s. I can only imagine it has gotten stricter. And their are organizations that verify the verification companies. One that comes to mind is NCQA.
