More and more I am working with firms that want certain documents faxed.
Why. Anything with non-public personal information is more "secure in transit" via a fax than via e-mail or e-mail with pdf attachment.
For example, in MA it is against the law to include Social Security numbers in an e-mail. With the uptick in identity theft and financial account theft, wire instructions with bank account information is also being faxed.
So, there may be times when you'll need a fax. Of course, MANY lenders, title insurance companies and signing services are not bothering NSAs with privacy and security requirements. |
