If you're a Vermont notary and getting warnings from your clients that your commission will expire in 60 days, things are different this time.

In the past you would get commissioned by county assistant judges, who don't take office until February 1, so they'd have to sign all the commissions between February 1 and 10 (although this wasn't always followed rigorously).

This time around you will be commissioned by the Office of Professional Regulation which is part of the Secretary of State's office. The notary web page there is:

They will begin accepting applications mid-December.
