"Most women are better at multi tasking in life then men because we are forced to with juggling kids, homelife and work"
Not the same thing as multi-tasking, because you're not doing all those things at the same moment in time. Although there are multiple tasks you are juggling, you can only focus on any one of them at a time. Bring your kids to work, and where is your focus? If it's on the kids, it's not on your work; if it's on your work, it's not on your kids. If you could do both at the same time, that would be multi-tasking - humans cannot do that.
When a car is in motion, any distraction to the driver increases the chances for something bad to happen. Using a hands-free Bluetooth connection is probably the safest way to use a phone in a car, but if your focus is on the phone conversation, it can't be on the road before you at the exact same time. Your brain may be trying to shift focus between the two tasks as rapidly as possible, but it's impossible for us to focus on two tasks at the same moment in time. And if you're driving a 2000 lb vehicle moving at 90 feet per second, distraction is not a good thing.
Texting and reading texts while driving is just insanity because it takes ALL of your focus off controlling the vehicle - yet isn't that how Uber and Lyft drivers get and update their assignments? In my opinion, doing ANYTHING with a phone in a moving car shoud be banned - pull over, stop the car, and attend to your business. It's a safety issue. |
