I agree with the others, but another big red flag for me would be asking for copies of the IDs. I think there's just too much of that going around when it's not necessary, and IMO, a third party to an I-9 signing doesn't need copies.
In the circumstances you described, I'd be especially concerned about sending copies of someone's ID to a company with this type of reputation. It's one thing if it's a licensed title co that's asking (although even then I make every effort to stay out of that loop), but I don't think I'd want to risk being complicit in any kind of potential fraud that might be conducted by the party(ies) receiving those copies. |
