Perhaps you're more cynical than I am.  I might have been more inclined to participate if the motivation was solely for the benefit of our profession, rather than for some kind of personal gain. So do I understand correctly that you're saying all those prizes were paid for with CLIN funds (and presumably donations from the listed companies that are sponsors)?
BTW, in a previous lifetime, I worked for a market research company. Just FYI, in all those legit surveys, the demographic and contact info questions always came at the end. 'Course, those surveys were done for corporations that had a budget and wanted an independent outside party to collect the data. (Market research was all we did, so we knew the ins and outs. I realize it's a bit tougher when it's a DYI project.)
