 Passport Card for ID
Posted by  Yoli/CA on 5/5/21 11:14am

On April 7th, the question was posted as to whether using a passport card as ID is allowed. See Msg #631102. There was, of course, much discussion on this matter. We all voiced our opinion. I also asked the CA SOS. Finally got a response:

"Dear Ms. Adams,

Thank you for your email.

California Civil Code section 1185(b)(3) and (4) specifies the types of documents acceptable as identification. If the passport card does not contain all the required elements, then it would appear that it is not an acceptable form of identification.

Sincerely,
Notary Public & Special Filings Section"

In that prior posting, another CA NSA posted she'd asked CA SOS as well and reply then was opposite to above. Guess it all depends who you ask on which day. <smh>
