Had a young lady who acquired title in her maiden name and the new docs are drawn up in her married name. Title is telling her a simple name affidavit with the new and old name will take care of changing the vesting with the county. They have not done a new deed and she did not sign onne prior to closing. Nor is there any wording on the mortgage indicating a FKA or NKA. I feel like this is basic Title 101 and they are tellling her wrong but title keeps saying they don't need a new deed. I also wonder if the county will even record it with a different name? Thoughts would be welcomed. |
