I read of all of this posting and shook my head....I started in this business in the mid 90's...My email was dial up...I received my orders on my fax machine...My cell phone was a huge phone that was cheap, and I seldom got calls...I got emails, faxes, and I was paid very well way back then. I could self schedule, and UPS and Fedex would roll up to my house daily....It was a profession...We had the Signing Registry and I cannot remember the other board before that. Everyone was professional, and helped each other. The business was good to me ...I was able to get two kids through college (Vassar and Yale) without any loans, and really get myself financially set. In 2008, I started to move into Plan B...I had a small tax practice, and I grew it and grew it....so that when the Pandemic hit, I no longer had to do closings; I had plenty of work....I watched the people I admired leave this business/start new ventures, or pass away...Sue K/PA is a dear friend of mine and a mentor, who taught me how to make over $250,000 a year 15-20 years ago....DebK/CO is another dear friend of mine...who has moved onto greener pastures (and I mean that literally...She is a farmer!). Nina/LA, Maureen/NH, Paul/FL, Sylvia/FL...so many names and so many people that were hind and helped build this business to one where we were respected professionals. For many clients we stayed their go-to people....Technology has changed this business; where it is not as lucrative as it once was. We had a great run.....Respect what we did, and what we will do, as we all move into new directions. |
