Correct, certifying a true copy is an authorized notarial act in VT. The presenter in the webinar thought the only time it could be done was if the "original" was electronic and the copy was paper, although I don't think that's right. So it is a notarization, and the "original" might, in the future, include the notary's signature in an electronic notarial certificate.
The advice seen on Notary Rotary, and other forums, is to not notarize your own signature. So the scenario I described above would fit that description. For an example of the advice, see Msg #529094 |
