I'd probably do the same as you did. IMO, diplomacy or the truth shouldn't have to be an either/or situation - and it sounds like that's what you ended up doing. You obviously know that it's often very therapeutic to go ahead and write that heated reply to get it out of your system. Then start over and give the facts in the most diplomatic way you can manage. Sometimes the person we're responding to has just reacted without getting up to speed on that particular transaction and just needs a reminder.

Clearly, barring a history of repeated problems with an individual or company, it's just plain good business sense to give someone the benefit of the doubt (before you hit Send) if there's a chance you'd want to work for them again. Wink
