 Unfortunately not the best timing...

I've been a signing agent for 20 years with an established client base and it has never been slower; Other than the crash of 2008, and even that rebounded quicker.

I have people asking me all the time about becoming a signing agent. Why, I ask myself, would anyone enter this business these days? Fees have gone downhill due to apps rewarding the lowest bidders and there are so many predatory signing services who will send out new notaries and not pay them. Of course there are some good ones, but they are overstaffed as it is.

The only way to really do well is to have direct business, or really good ss clients and that will take time and effort to build, even in a good market. I hate to see people wasting their money on these courses duping them into thinking this is a viable business model these days. 2 or 3 years ago, yes. Today, no.

Also, it's a myth that you make your own hours. When your doing signings, you have to be available when the signers are available to sign, or the order goes to another notary.

Corliss, if you're already a notary and come from the mortgage industry, I would not waste money on classes but spend it on marketing/advertising for General Notary Work. If you want to learn about loan signings, you can watch some YouTubes or find a mentor in your area. There will always be a need for GNW depending on the supply and demand in your area.

I'm with Cheryl. Go for the craft beer! Or perhaps a wine bar...You can never have too many of those!

Anyway, best of luck, and welcome to the forum Corliss!

P.S. Orange Search Button is your best friend...
