Home equity investments are an attractive option for people who either don't qualify for traditional home equity financing or want to tap into their home equity without getting into debt.

There are 5 or 6 company's that will appraise your property and loan you money based on the current value and equity you have in the home. Unlike a normal HELOC, you do not make monthly payments. They help access your home’s equity in exchange for a portion of your home’s appreciation when you sell. They advertise no extra debt, no interest, no monthly payments.

I believe you have to repay your original loan plus the appreciation.
