times this is the very first stage - and can take upwards of 2 hours because you're also gathering supporting documentation to go along with the application....and they can't find it and have to go dig it up. I've also heard recently that these packages can be as large as 200 pages..the only good side is you don't leave a copy with the borrowers.

The only way I'd do these is with payment up front - if the loan doesn't go through you may not get paid. And be prepared to be patient - unless you get very lucky and have borrowers who are on top of things and have all their "stuff" together for you.
