Actually the word need not be used and here's why

In CA, a loan is consummated at signing when the contract is signed. Perhaps true in many other states too.

Please correct me if wrong but I believe in TX the loan is consummated at funding. I believe it's a state thing.

I would keep it simple and not use the word. JMO
