The DoD might be interested in the use of military IDs and CACs for RONs. Notarize and NotaryCam accepts them even though it is a felony to duplicate those IDs in any way unless it is for providing proof of insurance for medical care.
The national security implications are mind-boggling. Active duty personnel, military contractors, and their spouses are doing remote signings are verifying every detail of their identities from providing their military ID in some electronic form, to where they live and have lived to what vehicles they own or have owned, to having their entire video signing digitally recorded. All of this information is stored electronically on someone else's computer and transmitted electronically over the internet using equipment that is manufactured overseas.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. I spoke with an escrow agent about getting docs for a signing at the end of the month and he said they were waiting for the lender to send the docs. He offered that the docs were coming from an overseas subsidiary of this large, nonbank lender. He said most of the docs they get from this lender are coming from this subsidiary now. I can't verify if this is true but I have no reason to doubt what he said to me. |
