I'm not sure what is meant by 'luck', but from what I've seen and heard, those groups include lots of new notaries giving out lots of 'advice', whether or not they know what they're talking about. It very well may be more friendly, but most knowledgeable, experienced notaries I've heard from (with a few brave, notable exceptions) have given up, since there's too much bad info exchanged to address it all. I checked into one of those groups myself a while back and quickly gave up... Either that, or there are folks promoting their training classes who are motivated by their own self-interest. (There's at least one who has a rather questionable reputation.)
For someone serious, I think this is the best place to find good info. They may not get warm fuzzies here (and I'm not saying the info they'll find here is always right, either), but I think it's the best notary forum that exists these days. Plus, there's a nearly two decade searchable archive with every question he could probably think of to ask (and more) that's been asked and answered already.
Just sayin', beware of the blind leading the blind, and those who are often wrong, never in doubt!
[I probably just offended a bunch of folks, so I'm sorry. But I'm calling it like I see it...]
