Maybe there is an ink-jet printer out there that resists water once the ink dries, and doesn't fade over time. Certainly there is a demand for such a printer among land surveyors, engineers, and architects, because it isn't practical to build a laser printer that accepts a piece of paper that's 48 inches wide. Maybe you could get the seller to send you the printer on a 30-day trial. You could sprinkle water on some sheets, and leave some other sheets out in the sun for a couple of weeks.
But the problem is that you can tell the difference between an ink jet and a laser by feeling the paper. The title company can tell the difference. The office that records the mortgage can tell the difference. Inkjets have a bad reputation. Your documents might be rejected because the entity receiving the document lumps your inkjet in with all the bad inkjets.
How long does a recorded document need to last? Recently I looked up the document that created my road at the town clerk's office. It was recorded in 1811. |
