Good point. One of the reasons I like to deal directly with a person - in addition to helping keep them employed - is that I never know what a personal contact will lead to.
When it comes to banking, specifically, I like the fact that I'm a familiar face in my bank branch. I get better service and if I ever have an issue, I can go directly to someone with some authority who knows me. At the grocery store and elsewhere, dealing with a person can be an opportunity to network. Even random connections can lead to excellent referrals. Gerard's story above is a perfect example. |
