I appreciate the kind words but my site does not have a forum. My affiliate partner has a forum. I’ll pass your kind words along. Drake and I are large participants in the Association. We believe in the cause. As for the ownership of the Association, that is not an item I can disclose.
Am I here on notrot on a daily basis giving advice? Do I pay membership? Sure I do. I give to this site with my participation and paying my membership. Once the Association site is fully functional I would love nothing more than to promote some of the notary rotary supplies. They have the most awesome notary journal available. The same profile information is in every site that I have joined so I don’t think it is a fair assumption on anyone’s part that I have singled out notary rotary to ‘herd people off this board’.
The ‘Notary Voice’ forum has a section fully promoting advertisement.
There is no sneaking here. I am not herding people off. I am filling a demand which this site/forum as well as others are not filling. Each site seems to have it’s own strong points. I have also been promoting Laura's book as well as your inspection group. Man, how is that herding people off? I know you sell a list of inspection companies to sign up with. Like you, instead of answering something 10 times, just find a spot to put it once and tell people to go there to find the answers. Obviously, after answering it 10 times plus there must be a reason people keep asking. Maybe it’s just that they want the camaraderie of fellow notaries or just of people on a forum or message board to interact with.
I, too, have had a multitude of people email me asking for help and information away from this board and not at my suggestion or invitation. I enjoy helping and networking away from the boards as well as on them.
I have seen a major decline of participation in this forum since the beginning of the year and it’s not me ‘herding anyone anywhere’. I often wonder where all the people have gone. I often have about four different forums open at once because there is not enough activity in any one to keep my interest. I read everything a couple of times.
As for membership fees, how else do you maintain a site, continually researching to put current information and answer questions on an ongoing basis? How else do you work long hours to contact companies to network for the betterment of notaries? This is not just a website and forum, this is an ‘Association’ building for the future of the Notary Profession.
I find it odd how I have seen attacks on other occasions of people/sites wanting to charge a fee for something on a site, yet there are so many gripes about all these new notaries wanting something for nothing. So is it acceptable to charge a fee for information or isn’t it?
Where is it said that it is a crime to ask for a fee for the products and services being provided? Each person who visits the Association site can determine the level of worth it provides to them and join accordingly.
Graduation. I just got through the high school part. Daughter is going to study nursing. I’d like to be at graduation of nursing about now. So many things can happen along the way. I will hold my breath until she finishes.
