I don't work for them, but is sometimes common in certain circumstances. The lender may have requested this other person, found someone cheaper, they like them better....

I always call the signers when it's not happening, moved, not closing...and get the scoop. It's been years since they tell me another notary is coming out, usually, that's not the case, and just not closing for other reasons, and pick it back up.
I first go in and do my completion report and charge $$ (if they have a platform) then email the SS and tell them I spoke to the client letting them know about their cancellation and found out you double booked and are requiring a $$ cancelation fee. Do not request, you require. You held that spot, you turned other closings down, and push for that.
Will you get it? Probably not, but nothing to lose either.
